Varanasi Varanasi is the home to one of the Hindu Gods, Shiva the Destroyer. The Taj Mahal, located in Agra, was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan as a loving memory of his wife, whom he fell in love with at first sight. This was built as an Islamic mausoleum when he was the Emperor between the years of 1631-1653. Although he lost power, he was laid to rest with his wife below the surface of the actual sarcophagus.    | Shimla Shimla is like a whole different country to India. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, it is the former summer capital of British-ruled India, located in the sate of Himichal Pradesh. It is very famous for the terminus of the narrow-guage railway, the Kalka-Shimla Railway Line, built in 1898. This train is unique as the tracks are only 2 foot six inches wide (762mm) and 107 tunnels and 864 bridges and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.    |
